At Home Ideas: “train” themed horror movies!

I know I’m not the only one who will be/is currently going through cabin fever. (The housebound type, not the Eli Roth type.) So? From time to time during our mass at-home period, I’ll be posting ideas on what to watch.

Today? It’s horror movies that deal with trains. Yep yep. There are several excellent films that get their spooky on while riding the tracks. Any one of these would make an excellent solo watch, or a great double feature. Heck, marathon these puppies if you want. Nobody’s around.

Train to Busan – one of my all-time favorites, and don’t just take my word for it right now, read my #31in31 review from a while back!

Howl – this was one of those movies where I just kind of felt like a bit of werewolf to get the party started. And I ended up really enjoying the hell out of this. Again, check out my old review for more…

The Midnight Meat Train – this Clive Barker story gets a really bloody good adaptation. Vinnie Jones, Bradley Cooper, Leslie Bibb. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all. Maybe be glad that you’re not working late at the office when you watch this one. The comforts of your home office have never been quite so… comforting, have they?

Terror Train – where my 70s and 80s horrorhounds at? This old school joint not only has Jamie Lee Curtis as lead heroine, it has some really fun, cheesy goodness. What’s not to love? Okay, so it’s predictable as hell. But who cares

Horror Express – speaking of old-school joints, how about this early 70s monster movie? Lee, Cushing, the Trans-Siberian Express… and a strange creature in the storage car that’s nowhere near frozen enough. It’s a cornucopia of awesome talent in a very cheesy package. And I loved every minute.

Curse of the Demon – we’re going all the way back to the 50s for this gem, one that doesn’t necessarily occur on a train, but the but whose climax is definitely train-centric. Go catch this one if you haven’t already… And check your pockets for pieces of paper while you’re at it.

There are tons more horror movies, and thrillers, that take place on trains; Red Eye, Snowpiercer, Night Train to Terror, and of course Snakes on a Train. But whatever you pick, grab a snack and dig in. Enjoy!
