Musician Sandy Asirvatham joins ellen cherry and other Baltimore artists in reimagining Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon on the album’s 40th anniversary. Entitled Mobtown Moon, the cross genre musical collaboration and Floyd tribute was introduced in 2012 with public concerts that continue in 2013. A recording is due out in March. This iteration highlights the beauty and depth of the album’s songs, taking them out of their stadium-rock context and focusing on their well-crafted lyrics. “Smalltimore,” as the city is sometimes called, is large enough to support many styles of music, but small enough to spark cross-collaboration.
