Special Fathom Features: Go behind the scenes with the Met’s stars! During intermission, interviews with cast, crew, and production teams give an unprecedented look at what goes into the staging of an opera.
An encore performance of Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann will be shown in select cinemas on Wednesday, February 4 at 6:30 p.m. in all time zones. Please note: not all cinemas showing the live transmission will present an encore showing.
The magnetic tenor Vittorio Grigolo takes on the title role of the tortured poet and unwitting adventurer in the Met’s kaleidoscopic production of Offenbach’s energetic, operatic masterpiece. Hibla Gerzmava, Erin Morley, Christine Rice sing the three heroines—each an idealized embodiment of some aspect of Hoffmann’s desire. Thomas Hampson portrays the shadowy Four Villains, and Yves Abel conducts the sparkling score.
Now. How to win? Easy — find me! Here’s the when & where (hint: think Groundhog’s Day…)
Simply find me. Not so easy, right? Well, it can be if I tell you where I’ll be and when. So here goes:
Where: DuClaw, Arundel Mills Mall. Bar area. Small space! Easy to spot!
When: 11:30am-1:00pm, Monday, February 2, 2015
How: I’ll be wearing my best Valentine’s Day chapeau. A’yup, a big ol’ red hat. (I’ll also be the brunette chica with glasses. The one too friendly with her edamame. Yeah, that’d be me.) Come on up and say “Atomic Fangirl, I love Opera! Can I have Hoffmann passes?” or something like that. (Be nice, be polite to the other folks at the bar.) FIRST FOUR FOLKS GET PASSES.
Hope to see you at DuClaw on the 2nd — and good luck everyone!
