Baltimore Screening Pass-palooza: “A United Kingdom”!

a-united-kingdom-posterI thought Loving was an absolutely amazing film.  But obviously that’s not the only story about a couple fighting for their right to be together.  And with A United Kingdom, we get a look at what it was like across the sea in the 1940s. Synopsis!

A UNITED KINGDOM is the true story of the forbidden love of King Seretse Khama of Botswana (David Oyelowo) and Ruth Williams (Rosamund Pike), a white woman from London, which caused an international uproar when they decided to marry in the late 1940’s just as apartheid was being introduced into South Africa. It was a decision that altered the course of African history.

With Oyelowo and Pike in the lead roles, and directed by Amma Asante (Belle), I’m in.  Are you?  Then c’mon!
