The 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards were held last night, and while there were some expected outcomes – looking at you, winners Christian Bale, Rachel Brosnahan and best song “Shallow” – there were a few happy surprises.
I love how much love Black Panther got, especially as early in the year films often get overlooked come end of the year award time. Speaking of overlooked, I really need to go see First Reformed, as screenwriter Paul Schrader nabbed best screenplay. It’s been on my list, but I’ve never gotten around to it. Til now.
But the stunner of the night were the ties for Best Actress; both the main film and TV categories had ties, giving awards to Lady Gaga, Glen Close, Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette.
Read Entertainment Weekly’s fabulous piece that lists all the winners. Congratulations, all!
