31 in 31: A Night at the Movies – The Horrors of Stephen King

image

Sorry; today I spent all day and early evening at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. As you do. So let’s get started, shall we?

Story: THE Man discusses horror; why things are scary, how things get to us, and how the horror genre works on us all.

Scares: Plenty, but it’s all a part of showing us what’s scary and why.

Splat factor: See above. (Though there’s nothing that wouldn’t be PG-13 in a cineplex.)

Closing scene “shocker”: Documentary. Enough said.

Remake, Sequel or OG (Original Ghoul)?: This is a Turner Classic Movies special (available on FearNet), and original special. Sadly; I’d watch a whole series of Steve-O talking this stuff.

Trick or Treat?: Like a caramel apple, this is a goodie that is also a little bit good for you at it’s center. A Night at the Movies is a master class on horror movies by a true master. It’s fascinating to hear his take on not only his own films, but what scared him, and big time horror classics that chills everyone. (Examples include The Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Psycho.)

It’s 65 minutes. Go enjoy yourself, and don’t be surprised if you get up knowing more than you did before.
