Story: The Peanuts gang is getting ready for Halloween. Everyone’s Trick or Treating (though with various levels of success). Everyone, that is, except for Linus, who is sure that the Great Pumpkin will visit his pumpkin patch, because it’s the most sincere. Sally follows Linus; will they get a look at the GP? Oh and is that the World War I flying ace up in the sky?
Scares: Zero, except for the possibility that Sally might beat the crap out of Linus when she realized she missed Trick or Treating for nothing….
Splat factor: Kiddie fare made for TV back in the 60s? Not a chance.
Remake, Sequel or OG (Original Ghoul): This goes hand in hand with A Charlie Brown Christmas & It’s Thanksgiving Charlie Brown.
Trick or Treat?: Chuck is the only one getting a rock in this fun, nostalgic look at exactly how pumped we all used to get about Halloween. Sure, now that we’re grow up (well, kinda), we love it. But there was a certain magic about Halloween that fades after you stop knocking on doors and start throwing parties.
And am I the only one who always thought that the Great Pumpkin was gonna ride in like the headless horseman? Now that’d be a story to spook the kiddies….
P. S. : The Washington Post did a “7 things you didn’t know” piece about this beloved show. Give it a peek – and then feel better that poor Chuck did get more than just rocks after all.

I too thought The Great Pumpkin would ride in on a horse like the Headless Horseman. But I think most kids did because the Sleepy Hollow animated holiday show was always shown around the same time. Do they still air that one? I’m not sure as I’ve not had t.v. for a couple years. I just use Hulu and Netflix.

Just cut the cord yesterday…. I was sick and tired of paying Comcast’s ever rising fees. (And, of course, as soon as I wanted to cancel? Deals galore. No thanks.) I’m doing the Hulu/Netflix thing too. So far? Liking it!
