“What the hell is this, Drunk Nora?”

Story: After the brutal death of her sorority sister Sarah, Nora is thisclose to getting kicked out of Sigma Omega Phi. Because Nora was the only witness, but she was too blotto to remember anything. However, Drunk Nora remembers all. So when Sigma gets back into campus life by kicking of a Campus Crawl? Nora is forbidden all fun libations or she’s kicked out. But Sarah’s supposed killer was just released on bail… Drunk Nora to the rescue?

Scares: None to truly speak of.
Splat Factor:  Bloody murder. Literally.

Subgenre: Greek Life Horror Comedies
Year Released: 2026
Remake, Sequel or OG (Original Ghoul)?: Wonderfully original

Trick or Treat?: Ending this year’s #31in31 with a banger. Because Buzzkill is the kind of fun horror comedy that’s made for a watch with friends, or just a good time with you, the sofa, and a little drinky-drink. Damn this one’s a hoot.

This Tubi original is really good. Like, blew my expectations out of the water good. Like I’d expect this on Shudder or HBO good. The acting is just slapstick enough to be enjoyable without becoming grating. The cinematography and set design makes the film look a whole lot better that it has a right to. And the plot seems like it’s running out of steam halfway through, only to yell “SIKE” and shift into a higher gear.

The mystery is well crafted, and gotta admit the fun twists and turns weren’t something I figured on getting from a Tubi original. Don’t worry horror-hounds, there’s also lots of the red stuff, and some unique kills. This horror comedy leans a bit more on comedy but they let viewers know that from the jump. There’s a subplot with two absolutely incompetent campus security guards that do a touch of exposition at the start of the film, but besides finding everybody afterward? They feel like they were added to the film to do a solid for two friends who wanted to get their SAG cards. Congratulations, y’all.

Siena Agudong is absolutely amazing as Nora. Drunk, determined, and desperately attempting to help her Sisters through a cloud of guilt and booze. Meanwhile the majority of her Sisters are absolutely done with her borderline alcoholic self, which only serves to amp up the body count. Favorites among the ladies are Angela Daytona Wu as the loveable oddball Beth, who sticks by Nora come what may, and Aliyah’s Interlude/Aliyah Bah as determined sorority princess Lexi, whose truth bombs – and delicate skin – help move the mystery forward.

This would make a great double feature with either Slotherhouse (another sorority horror comedy) or Grabbers (another “gotta stay drunk” horror). Happy Halloween, one and all!

Score: 4.5 out of 5 pumpkins.

[And BTW? There’s a subplot with a missing soritity mascot. But little Tiger ends up a-ok and completely unscathed.]
