TrailerWatch: “The Predator” hints at a change

“I think they’re attempting hybridization.”

I have a list of movies in my head that I hope will get a reboot. Predator wasn’t one of them. But with this trailer for The Predator, it looks like writer/director Shane Black (The Nice Guys) will be changing the mythos. No coming-of-age hunt for these aliens.  This time it’s pure throwdown.

Synopsis!

When a young boy accidentally triggers the universe’s most lethal hunters return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

Let’s hope Black injects some of that amazing dry humor from Guys and The Long Kiss Goodnight into this story.  Because with cast members like Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key and Edward James Olmos, it’s a sure bet they’d be down to take some dark humor out for a spin.

The Predator crashes into theaters September 14th, 2018.
