I’m not even gonna try to be even handed here. I’m a huge fan of the Dune series of books, and I can’t wait to see this film. Synopsis!

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

As I’d figured Jason Momoa is great as Duncan Idaho, giving the character a sly wisdom I’m really digging. And Zendaya is perfection as Chani, with director Denis Villeneuve shooting her dream sequences with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul beautifully. Dat cinematography y’all. Y’ALL. Did I mention I can’t wait? Because I can’t wait.

Dune hits theaters and HBOMAX on October 22nd. Bring forth Fall, and the Spice!
