Classics Catch-up: “Royal Wedding”

I’ve decided 2026 will be the year I finally watch films everyone is shocked I haven’t seen yet. So I decided to jot down a few thoughts per film. Enjoy?

Finally saw the legendary Fred Astaire walls & ceiling dance in context, and honestly? Gondor needs no context. It’s awesome no matter what. This is definitely a 50s film; it’s vibe, dialogue, and song & dance numbers are pure mid-century madness. Jane Powell’s high soprano Snow White warble is both amazing and headache inducing.

Dunno if I’ll be rewatching, as the overblown vaudeville vibe isn’t my jam.
