2014 Film Reviews: and boy, are my arms tired!

2014 movie collageSometimes I feel like I’m not writing enough.  Then I do something like this; a list of all the stuff I reviewed in a year.  Not too bad.  No, not pro-level.  Still, not too shabby.  And a fine explanation for why I avoid my laptop all other days of the year.

To wit*:

A Most Violent Year
Mr. Turner
Into the Woods
Big Eyes
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Exodus: Gods and Kings
Top Five
The Theory of Everything
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
Big Hero 6
The Book of Life
Left Behind (2014)
The Equalizer
The Maze Runner
This is Where I Leave YOu
If I Stay
When the Game Stands Tall
Into the Storm
TMNT (2014)
Magic in the Moonlight
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Purge: Anarchy
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Begin Again
Jersey Boys
The Rover
How to Train Your Dragon 2
The Fault in Our Stars
Edge of Tomorrow (aka Live, Die, Repeat)
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Million Dollar Arm
Godzilla (2014)
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Other Woman
Under the Skin
Rio 2
Draft Day
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Muppets Most Wanted
Million Dollar Arm
300: Rise of an Empire
Endless Love
Winter’s Tale
The Monuments Men
Labor Day
The Legend of Hercules

(57 in all.)

Then there’s this year’s 31 in 31:

The Bay
Odd Thomas
Ghostbusters II
All Cheerleaders Die
The People Under the Stairs
Return to Horror High
The Returned
Carrie (2013)
Night of the Creeps
Birth of the Living Dead
The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster
The Sacrament
Cockneys Vs. Zombies
I Sell the Dead
Burke and Hare
Lon Chaney – Behind the Mask
Cabin Fever – Patient Zero
Bell, Book and Candle

(31 in all.  Naturally.)

TOTAL: 88 films.  I need a nap.

It’s been a wild, fun, sometimes eye-burningly frustrating year.  More ups than downs in terms of the ol’ enjoyment factor, so the Great Movie-Making Machinery gets a thumbs up for 2014.

Come at me, 2015!

* Not all the films listed are 2014 releases; a few (and all of the 31 in 31) are from Netflix, and two (A Most Violent Year, and Mr. Turner) were viewed and written before the new year, but are awaiting release date embargos.
