#31in31 2016: Southbound

southbound_poster

“We’re all on that same endless highway, the one with no name and no exits…”

Story: A lonely stretch of dusty highway is the stage for four tales of guilt and punishment. Vengeance demons in the rearview are closer than they appear.

Scares: Several nice shocks, and a chilling vibe throughout.

Splat factor: Lots of blood, and a few instances of body horror.

Closing scene “shocker”?: Nope.

Remake, Sequel or OG (Original Ghoul)?: A new take on the horror anthology.

Trick or Treat?: Southbound is a creepy little entry in the horror anthology genre, and does a decent job of bringing the scary. The “gimmick”, or wraparound story, manages to hold its own.

Score: 3.5 out of 5 pumpkins.
