MISTER RODGERS!!! I know him! I know him! Okay, so I never met the man. But I grew up watching him, and feeling like I knew Rodgers and his crew of puppets. (Am I the only one who wanted to be Henrietta Pussycat’s BFF, and who thought Lady Elaine Fairchild was just so elegant?)
If you haven’t seen all the social media buzz from your friends, there’s a Mister Rodgers documentary coming out called, naturally, Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Director Morgan Neville did an incredible job with his documentary of backup singers, 20 Feet from Stardom, so I’m sure he’ll deliver the same high-quality stuff here.
Synopsis!
From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom), Won’t You Be My Neighbor? takes an intimate look at America’s favorite neighbor: Mister Fred Rogers. A portrait of a man whom we all think we know, this emotional and moving film takes us beyond the zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination.
Won’t You Be My Neighbor? hits select theaters June 8th, 2018. And I can’t wait.
