#31in31 Beer Episode – Baked Pumpkin Ale by Lancaster Brewing Co.

It’s been a minute since I did a beer review. So let’s fix that, shall we? Because this ale had me saying “Whoa! That’s so freaking good I need to write this one up!”

Great mouth feel, nice and smooth. Then that sweet and spicy goodness hits you. It’s as if you just got a mouthful of pumpkin milkshake delivered right to your taste buds. The taste is strong, so nibbling on snacks isn’t gonna drown out this Pie. Though with an ale that has such a sugar-forward taste, I’d mix it up with chili, Takis, a nice rich stew, or hard cheeses. A slice of actual pumpkin pie would really bring out the Willy Wonka of this awesome brew, if you’re determined to keep this one on the dessert side of things. Y’know what? This would also bring an amazing punch to any slow cooker meal. I might try a chili or stew with a can of this nectar – anything with sweet potato, squash, or beef would play well with a can added to it in lieu of an equal amount of water or broth.

At 7.5 ABV, this is a sneaky one, so make sure you stay hydrated in-between brews. This is such a mellow ale you won’t be stopping at one. If you imbibe? Grab some for Halloween, and maybe even stash a few away til Thanksgiving. Yeah right, like something this good would last that long.

(BTW, this is in no way sponsored by the brewery. I just really like this stuff.)
