Loved the Goosebumps series when you were a kid? Or maybe snuck a few of those books into your college backpack or grown-up briefcase when you thought nobody would know? Well you’ll be glad to know, as with all things, there’s a Goosebumps movie coming at’cha this year. This October, to be exact. Yeah, Halloween month. The most wonderful time of the year.
Sure, there was a Goosebumps TV series back in the 90s. But this is the first time it’s going up on the big screen. And it’s set in Maryland y’all! Greendale, Maryland, to be exact. (No, it’s not a real town. But Greenbelt, Maryland and Greendale, Wisconsin are sister cities. So there’s that.) And the trailer looks like fans will be seeing just about all of the monsters that you nightmares back in the day. Or just last night. I don’t judge.
Here’s the synopsis:
Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door, and makes a quick friend in Champ (Ryan Lee). But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah’s mysterious dad is in fact R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. As Zach starts learning about the strange family next door, he soon discovers that Stine holds a dangerous secret: the creatures that his stories made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Stine’s creations are unintentionally released from their manuscripts, Zach’s life takes a turn for the weird. In a crazy night of adventure, it’s up to Zach, Hannah, Champ, and Stine to team up and get all of these figments of Stine’s imagination – including Slappy the Dummy, the girl with the haunted mask, the gnomes and many more – back in the books where they belong to save the town.
Peep the trailer at tell me what you think! Goosebumps slithers into theaters October 16th, 2015.

This was my absolute favorite book series when I was growing up. I can’t wait to see this movie!

Right? I loved that there was a scary series for kids! And as much as I feared the film when I first heard about it, the trailer actually looks pretty cool. 🙂
