TrailerWatch: “EXTREMELY WICKED SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND Vile” presents Zac Efron as Ted Bundy

And I’ve gotta say it’s pretty convincing so far. Efron gets that blend of guy-next-door and Stanner Supreme Bundy seemed to have in historical photos. Synopsis!

A chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy, from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who refused to believe the truth about him for years.

Vile seems to have the historical 411 down, including those horrible bow ties Bundy wore in court. (The 70s, amirite?) And it’s good to see Westworld alum Angela Sarafyan playing the BFF to Lily Collins’ Liz.

Vile hits theaters this year, with a debut at Sundance tomorrow.

Rapid Review: “Beautiful Boy”

(Because really; award season means you’re trying to winnow down the musts from the must-pass.)

Disjointed and choppy. I understand that’s probably what the director is going for, to echo the feelings of addiction and living with a loved one who’s addicted. But fabulous performances – and they are absolutely stunning – couldn’t pull me into the story. Boy is a well crafted and brilliantly acted fishbowl, with viewers staring in rather than connecting.

That house tho. That’s the dream y’all. That’s the dream.

“Glass” has some cracks, but it’s an engrossing patchwork

“Don’t be scared. You have to trust me. Like you always do.”

Story: David Dunn. Kevin Wendell Crumb. Elijah Price. All three are said to have super-human abilities. But do they? Dr. Ellie Staple aims to cure them of their suspected delusions once the three are safely ensconced in a Supermax research hospital. I’m sure that’ll go just fine.

Genre I’d put it in: Existential Superhero Movies

Remake, Sequel, Based-On, or Original: Part three of M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable (aka “Eastrail 177”) trilogy. Continue reading
