I know what you’re thinking. A new remake of The Mummy? And…no. This time it’s a new spin on the classic Universal Monsters (yeah, there’s two…), and if this 15 second sneak peek at the new Tom Cruise helmed The Mummy is any indication, it’s gonna be a wild ride.
I’m already loving the cool makeup FX on the mummy, and the amazing CGI. C’mon, those eyes? WHOA. Here’s a brief synopsis:
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in the present day. She brings with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
Oooh – spoopy! The full-length trailer hits this Sunday, for folks (like me) who are already wanting more. But till then, check out this quick bit of flash, and read on for the full 411 from Universal after the jump!
This year has been terrific for biopics and docu-dramas. But do you have room for one more? Because I have screening passes for the Baltimore area screening of Jackie, about the former first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Synopsis!
Did you enjoy The Secret Life of Pets?
The trailer for Monster Trucks looks pretty cute
Tis the season to be shoppin’! Yeah; am I the only one who looks at Black Friday and thinks “what convention tickets are on discount”? Well, there’s one that’s putting that discount info out to fans.
“Is that a monkey?”
Nutshell: A well crafted film about an important moment in history. Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton deliver quiet, powerful performances. Writer/Director Jeff Nichols focuses on the people that made the case, rather than the case itself. The result is a powerful, engrossing story. Grade: A
Nutshell: Forget what you’ve heard about this film, and how it’s sooooo close to teen comedies of the 80s and 90s. It’s not. There are laughs, sure. But Seventeen is darker, and way more real. Which is a good thing. Lightning smart, and uncomfortable as hell to watch, for anyone who even vaguely remembers what it’s like to grow up. Grade: A
Nutshell: A top-notch, bright & shiny film that manages to put Harry and the gang out of my mind. As these new characters, and their own stories, unspool, director David Yates, J.K. Rowling, and a talented cohesive cast put on a glorious show. Not bad for a film that started out as a sliver of a book. Grade: A-
