Story: Harley has finally given Puddin’ the ol’ heave-ho (or at least that’s what she’s going with…) But flying solo has it’s drawbacks; everyone she’s upset over the years now knows Mistah J doesn’t have her back any longer. What’s a gal who’s trying to start over to do? Why, adopt a hyena, grab a glitter gun, and eat the best egg sandwich EVER. (Okay, so two outta three ain’t bad.)

Who doesn’t love it when someone brings strange flavors of KitKats to a party? NO I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE. Friends either coming back from Japan, or hitting up the local cool Asian market on just the right day; it’s always a good time. This go-round, I was that friend hitting the H Mart at exactly the right time. Or the wrong one, depending. What I’m saying is that I’d seen their delicious Matcha flavor…but missed out by not picking them up immediately. So here we are, with dango “flavored” candies as a consolation prize. TrailerWatch: “Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island” drops their final trailer, and releases new poster

Gotta admit I’m stoked for this film. I was a wee one when the TV show aired, and while I was rarely allowed to stay up late enough to watch it early on, the blend of chills and morality tales had my heart go a-pitter-pat. Of course this being a Blumhouse joint things will be a lot more spooky (and probably a whole lot bloodier…well, as bloody as PG-13 can be, anywho.) But hey, synopsis!

In Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

With Blumhouse putting their spin on The Invisible Man later this year, it looks like this company is aiming to be the place for reboots of retro genre favorites. Touch down on Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island – IF YOU DARE – on Valentine’s Day, 2020. Hey, I think it’s a great opening day date. Who doesn’t love a tropical island getaway?

You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? “Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.

Troop Zero mini review

“Oh my boos – kill kill kill!”

An adorable look at what it’s like to be a kid, set in Wiggly, GA, circa 1977. Look past the bad wig Mackenna Grace wears, and see the sweet story that’s got just enough spice thanks to honest sounding dialogue and believable performances from the cast. Moment of respect for the young performers for their incredible talent.

Sure, things get a bit twee from time to time, but Zero is a love letter to all the zeros out there, letting us know that if we’re zeros, we’re damn sure infinity too. Now let’s jam to some Bowie!

Elsewhere Review: Yuengling’s Hershey’s Chocolate Porter

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted one of my brew reviews. Because I forget. So… Originally published at The Green Man Review!

What do you get when two great Pennsylvania tastes decide to mix it up? You get a fantastic porter that’s well worth searching out. Yuengling knew what they were doing when they collaborated with Hershey’s. And the brewery definitely let the chocolatier take the wheel. And it’s glorious.

It’s definitely Willy Wonka beer, because even though it has a beautifully dark porter look, it tastes like chocolate milk in the glass. You know, the good kind, with extra syrup. No wonder the brewery sold out the moment it hit taps.(Don’t worry though. They made more.)
