All hail the spice! Pumpkin everything is the rule of the day this time of year, and I’m all for it. Give me my pumpkin donuts, pumpkin pies, spicy roasted pumpkin, and pumpkin crumble. And okay, a PSL or two while we’re at it, though I’m more a Chestnut Praline Latte gal myself. So when Folkmanis decided to indulge my love of the orange squash, my grabby hands eagerly shot out. And I’ve been snuggling with this adorable puppet ever since. Continue reading →
Story: Spring break! Evan leaves campus and hits the wide open spaces to visit his uber-granola older brother during his time off. But a cute girl catches his eye, and Evan starts hanging out with her and her friends. Time to tell spooky stories by the fire pit! But Evan picked a doozy… Hey, what was that?
Been hearing great things about this one. Plus, it’s got Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and getting to see one of my favorite performers is always a good thing. Synopsis!
Set against the backdrop of 1950s New York, “Motherless Brooklyn” follows Lionel Essrog (Norton), a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette’s Syndrome, as he ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna (Willis). Armed only with a few clues and the powerful engine of his obsessive mind, Lionel unravels closely-guarded secrets that hold the fate of the whole city in the balance. In a mystery that carries him from ginsoaked jazz clubs in Harlem to the hard-edged slums of Brooklyn and, finally, into the gilded halls of New York’s power brokers, Lionel contends with thugs, corruption and the most dangerous man in the city to honor his friend and save the woman who might be his own salvation.
Story: Years ago Chelsea’s uncle was “killed by a wolf” while they were at his deep woods cabin. Now teenage Chelsea is a punk aficionado hanging out with a group of other middle class kids playing tough. But when one idiot gets in trouble with the po-po, they head to that old cabin in the woods. And hey, they run into the park ranger she used to know. He seems nice and not the least bit obsessive or anything.
Scares: A few jumps.
Splat factor: Some blood and light dismemberment. Remember, pick up your body parts when in your National Park. Leave nothing but footprints.

It’s here! The trailer for The Crown season 3! I loved the teaser they released earlier, but have been dying to get my eyes on a longer trailer. And boom. A jump to Elizabeth II’s Jubilee Year (that’s 25 years on the thrown) brings all sorts of change, set to a cover of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin'”. WHOA. Synopsis!
The third season of The Crown sees a new guard sweep into Downing Street, as Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family struggle to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing Britain. From cold-war paranoia, through to the jet-set and the space age – the exuberance of the 1960s and the long hangover of the 1970s – Elizabeth and the Royals must adapt to a new, more liberated, but also more turbulent world. Written by Peter Morgan, The Crown also stars Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as The Duke of Edinburgh, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Ben Daniels as Lord Snowdon, Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten.
I can’t wait to see how fabulous Princess Margaret’s 60s and 70s wardrobe will inevitably be…and, of course, seeing the new guard in their roles. The Crown season 3 hits Netflix Sunday, November 17th.
