TrailerWatch – AWWW YEAH the “Candyman” trailer is out!

“I think I made a mistake.” [YA THINK?]

I’ve been stoked for this film ever since Jordan Peele said he’d be bringing this remake to the big screen. I loved the original, and Tony Todd’s performance still gives me the creeps. (And breaks my heart.) Synopsis!

For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; HBO’s Watchmen, Us) and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris; If Beale Street Could Talk, The Photograph), move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.

With Anthony’s painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer (Colman Domingo; HBO’s Euphoria, Assassination Nation) exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind Candyman. Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly viral wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.

Candyman comes to theaters – and mirrors – near you June 12th, 2020.

Musical Hell’s Know the Score tackles the amazing “Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds”

Now normally I’d simply share this through Facebook. But I absolutely love Wayne’s concept album, and the YouTube Channel Musical Hell does an amazing job of digging into it.

So watch the video, and then check out the album. Treat yourself. And if you find yourself falling into a Musical Hell wormhole, let it happen. She’s fantastic.

TrailerWatch “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” teaser is here!

And y’all, it look like Chris Rock and company has NAILED IT. Saw this when I hit Fantasy Island today (okay enough for fans of Blum and/or the original show; mini review forthcoming) and I bounced in my seat. It’s looking like a very good entry/rehab of the series, which let’s face it has been circling the “been-there” drain of late. Synopsis!

Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly trapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw hits theaters May 15th, 2020.

“Birds of Prey” looks into Harley’s brain – and it’s glittery rainbow chaos

“Call me dumb. I have a PhD, motherfucker!”

Story: Harley has finally given Puddin’ the ol’ heave-ho (or at least that’s what she’s going with…) But flying solo has it’s drawbacks; everyone she’s upset over the years now knows Mistah J doesn’t have her back any longer. What’s a gal who’s trying to start over to do? Why, adopt a hyena, grab a glitter gun, and eat the best egg sandwich EVER. (Okay, so two outta three ain’t bad.)

Genre I’d put it in: Violently Adorable Acid Flashbacks

Remake, Sequel, Based-On, or Original: Based on the character from DC Comics, second film in the DCEU that features Dr. Quinzel.
