A trio of reviews for The Green Man Review, written back in 2005 and re-released last Sunday. I never got another book from Luna, which while unsurprising, is kind of disappointing. I actually liked Poison Study, and often think about picking up that series where I’d left off. I still have that Advance Reader Copy.

Mary Sue (n.) : (1) A type of story where characterization, plot and theme is supplanted by the author’s quest for his or her own wish fulfillment. (2) any character that is a thinly disguised idealized version of the author when the story suffers from such usage. The term is almost always derogatory.

Nutshell: Looks Dakota Johnson is growing into her acting chops. Unfortunately, Freed doesn’t give her much to work with. A messy plot with a drummed-up antagonist that takes away from the light-hearted chemistry between the two leads. Grade: D+
“You know you can’t stay here.”
“Thought we were in trouble there for a second. But it’s fine. We’re fine.”
Happy Monday everyone! What, you’re not stoked for a new day of work? Well, I understand. How about getting stoked for free passes? Because I’ve got passes for Early Man, the latest from the Wallace and Gromit crew!
Nutshell: A fun ride, if you ignore the fact that this final film in the Maze Runner series is a tangled mess of cliches and overused tropes. I wish I could say I enjoyed the ride, but I was too bored with the scattered plot to do anything but shove popcorn into my gaping maw, and drool over zombie FX (and Aiden Gillian, of course). Grade: C-
“Cadets? You better gear up.”
