Holiday: All of them. But it begins and ends on Christmas.

Genre: Saucy Rom-com

Synopsis: Sloane is sick of being a twenty-something at the kiddie table. Jackson is sick of casual dates becoming Big Deals simply because it’s a holiday. So when these two run into each other, they figure being each other’s “holidate” for every coming gathering this year is a great idea. All fun, no feelings. Right? Sure.

31 in 31 – Shudder’s “Ghoul Logs” (and Ernie the lizard!)

Happy Halloween! Yeah I should be doing a final movie review for the month. But y’know what? I’ve done “31 in 31” for TEN YEARS NOW. I’ma do me. So this year I’m sharing one of my favorite things to click on for a touch of creepy: Shudder‘s Ghoul Log series! From a “traditional” Jack O’Lantern to one carved as Trick ‘r Treat‘s Sam, there’s several to enjoy.

So enjoy these YouTube tidbits of Sam O’Lantern and the Return of the Ghoul Log, and then hit up Shudder if you want more. (Each “Log” plays for an hour, and naturally you can watch over and over…) My favorite? Well, it’s gotta be the Joe O’Lantern (er, Joe Bob’s Ghoul Log) with Ernie the lizard dressed as the cutest widdle Freddy Kruger ever. Check out the featured image in this post if you don’t believe me. Awwww! 🧡🧡🧡

And from now, on I’m gonna keep the freaky fun rolling all year long; I’ll be debuting Freaky Fridays very soon! Story: Surprise! Actor David Harbour is actually David Harbour III! And in this “documentary”, he digs into his father’s past, focusing on a play that was supposed to be a sequel to Frankenstein. Let’s just say it’s no classic. But the backstage antics sure are.

Scares: Zero. Because comedy.

Splat factor: Zero. Ditto.

31 in 31 – Roanoke Gaming’s “Biology of Movies” playlist!

Where my fellow science nerds at?Because Roanoke Gaming’s YouTube channel is stuffed with all sorts of cool scientific breakdowns of horror movies and video games. From 28 Days Later to Pumpkinhead, Splinter to Dawn of the Dead, there’s lots of icky to enjoy.

Did I mention that Roanoke is a microbiologist as his IRL Job? Because he is, and he gets extremely in-depth with his theories.

Be prepared to get lost in science, in the very best way. And then have a glass of warm milk or cuppa before bed. You may need to self-soothe.

“Who says we’re immune? Maybe the earth just forgot about us.”

Story: It’s 1981. In the Mi’gmaq reserve of Red Crow in Quebec, things are starting to turn strange. Fish are flopping around after they’ve been gutted. Dogs who’ve been put down rise up. And white people are dying and turning into zombies. The Mi’gmaq are immune to the virus, but not immune to being eaten alive… So six months later, their reserve is a fortress. But should they help uninfected white people survive?

Scares: Mostly sadness at how the world works during a pandemic, in-between hard hitting gross outs.

Here – have another beer review in “31 in 31”! Because I’m stuck at home, so bottom’s up. From Green Man last Sunday. Kanpai, bitches.

Welcome to the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! No, not the holiday season; the arrival of dark beers. Huzzah! And this ale is a lovely start to my dark beer season.

Pouring the brew gets you a khaki colored head that dissipates quickly, leaving a ring of bubbles around your glass. The nose isn’t much to write home about, but to be honest? I’m not upset by that. In a season where beers tend to grab you by the nosehairs and demand you pay attention to all their additives, taking a sniff and getting clean, sweet, caramel-nut notes – ones that don’t yell at you but whisper enticements – is a refreshing change. I absolutely adore Trixie and Katya. I absolutely adore horror movies. So hello, two great tastes! And ZOMG Katya’s fangs are awesome!

T&K looks at several horror movies, giving their own opinions on each. And it’s fantastic. Because don’t we all stan Anjelica Huston and Bruce Campbell? Yes we do.

Netflix, please never stop the “I Like to Watch” series… And maybe make another horror-centric episode?
